  • Chris and Tammi Woodyard Powell of Independence announce the birth of their first child.

    Micah Shane Powell was born at 3:20 p.m. Dec. 26 2008 at St. Luke West in Florence.

    He weighed 7 pounds and 7.6 ounces and was 19.75 inches long.

    His maternal grandparents are Woody and Linda Woodyard of Williamstown.

    His paternal grandparents are Leroy Powell of Newport and the late Charlene Powell. His paternal great grandparents are Roy Powell of Fort Thomas and the late Lucille Powell.

  • Sylvia Davies and Russ and Joyce Burgess, formerly of Crittenden, are pleased to announce the marriage of their children, Lisa and Patrick.

    The ceremony was held April 17 at the Volusia County Courthouse on the Halifax River in Daytona Beach, Florida.

    It was immediately followed by an intimate dinner at Parks Seafood Restaurant.

    Cutting of the wedding cake took place at the couple’s home in Daytona Beach.

    • The Grant County Industrial Development Authority will meet at 1:30 p.m. July 8 at the Chamber of Commerce in Williamstown.

    • The Chamber breakfast meeting will begin at 8 a.m. July 20 at the Grant County Extension Office on Barnes Road in Williamstown.

    CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS

    • The Corinth Women’s Club will meet at 6 p.m. July 7 at Noble’s Restaurant.

    • The Corinth Lady Lions meet at 6:30 p.m. July 8 at Noble’s Restaurant.

  • Susan and Bob Raleigh of Crittenden announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Autumn Nichole Clayton to Derek Douglas Caldwell, son of Darrell and Brenda Caldwell of Williamstown. The wedding will take place at 6 p.m. July 11 at Williamstown Christian Church. The reception will follow at St. Williams on 6 Church St., in Williamstown.

    Both bride and groom are 2006 graduates of Grant County High School. She is a senior at NKU studying social work. He is employed at GSI in Richwood.

    All friends and family are invited.

  • A slow economy has not stopped Jason Wallace, owner of Grant County Drugs, from opening more pharmacies in Grant County.

    “Healthcare as a business is immune to the economy,” Wallace said. “Sickness doesn’t stop because the economy is down, people are still going to get sick and will still need their medicine.”

    Wallace was honored with the 2009 Excellence in Business award at the Grant County Chamber of Commerce banquet.

  • Lisa and Patrick Burgess of Daytona Beach, Fla., announce the birth of their son.

    Elijah Patrick Benjamin Burgess was born on April 21 at Halifax Hospital in Florida.

    He weighted 8 pounds and 12 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    His paternal grandparents are Joyce and Russ Burgess of Daytona Beach, formerly of Crittenden. His great grandfather is Estill Mitts of Dry Ridge.

    Burgess was welcomed home by his family.

     

  • Timmy and Traci Maines of Dry Ridge announce the birth of their son.

    Jackson Ryan Maines was born at 2:16 p.m. on May 27 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

    He weighted 7 pounds and 10.6 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    His maternal grandparents are Clayton Baker of Independence and Gail Baker of Dry Ridge. His maternal great grandparents are Joe and Shirley Haas of Taylor Mill.

    His maternal great grandparents are Mary Campbell and Mary and Orville Daley of Williamstown.

    His paternal grandparents are Donna and Tony Mitchell of Corinth.

  • Adam and Alisha Wright of Crittenden announce the birth of their second child.

    Abby Gail Wright was born at 8:36 p.m. April 30, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

    She weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Randy and Debbie Gill of Cynthiana.

    Her paternal grandparents are Mark Wright of Verona and Randy and Vicki Dalton of Crittenden.

    Abby was welcomed home by her sister, Kaylee and friends and family.
