    Grant County High School class of 1984’s 25th reunion is from 7 p.m. to midnight on June 27 at the Drawbridge Inn in Covington. RSVP must be before May 31 to be included.

  • Gifford-Fairchild set date

    Jerry and Jamie Dunn of Dry Ridge and Mark and Robbie Gifford of Williamstown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Alisha Michelle Gifford to Weylin Roger Fairchild, son of Roger and Mintie Fairchild of Winchester.

    The wedding is being planned for 3:30 p.m. May 16 at Sherman Full Gospel Church.

    A reception will follow at JMB Center in Dry Ridge.

    The bride is a 2005 graduate of Grant County High School. She is also a student at Morehead State University.

  • Moore, girl, Jan. 28

    Scott and Shelly Moore of Dry Ridge announce the birth of their first child.

    Aubrey Rose Moore was born at 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 28, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

    She weighted 7 pounds and was 19 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Jerry M. and Loretta Beach of Dry Ridge.

    Her maternal great grandparents are Opal Beach of Dry Ridge and the late Marvin Beach.

    Her paternal grandparents are Steve and Betty Moore of Crittenden.

    Aubrey was welcomed home by family and friends.

  • Local band needs public’s help to earn spot on festival’s main stage

    If it was not for Jesus, Dusty Murphy said he would not be alive today.

    The 28-year-old Crittenden man was one of four teens arrested in late 1998 for arson at several Grant County churches.

    A five-year prison term and a newfound commitment to God has led to a transformation in Murphy’s life.

    “Life as a drug-addicted, alcoholic Satanist was one that was devoid of all hope,” he said. “Every dream was shattered at some point, and I had no reason to exist. Now, I have a family, hopes, dreams and in short, a life.”

  • Glenn, girl, Feb. 18

    Dennis and Amber Glenn of Dry Ridge are proud to announce the birth of their first child.

    Keegan Faith Glenn was born at 7:47 a.m. on Feb. 18, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

    She weighted 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Teresa Bagby of Florence and C.T. Bagby of Dry Ridge.

    Her paternal grandparents are David Sr. and Dottie Glenn of Florence and Darlene Tharp of Corinth.

  • Miss Teen Derby Day contestants

    Six young ladies will be vying for the title of Miss Teen Derby Day at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 1 at Williamstown High School. Contestants include Katelyn Turner, Courtney Jaconette, Rebekah Brewer, Hannah Kinsey, Sierra Clark and Dakota Trenary (not pictured.) Seven ladies have entered the Miss Derby Day contest. Those contestants include Shelby Horn, Lindie Huffman, Stacey McIntosh, Melissa McLeod, Olivia Shawmeker, Chelsea West and Emily Wright. The winner of Miss Derby Day and Miss Teen Derby Day will be crowned after the parade on May 2.

  • Brenda Wilson joins Ky. Humanities Council board

    Brenda L. Wilson of Williamstown has been elected to the Kentucky Humanities Council board of directors.

    As a member of the 23-person volunteer board, Wilson will help set council policies, award project grants to community organizations and participate in fundraising to help the council meet the growing demand for its programs. She will serve a three-year term, with a second three-year term optional. Based in Lexington, the council and its community partners invest more than $1 million a year in support of public humanities programs throughout the state.
