  • Manger Ministries to host tea

    It all started with two young girls making potato chip sandwiches in the basement of Lawrenceville Baptist Church because they had nothing to eat at home.

    “Their older sister told them that if they wanted something to eat, they had to see what they had at church,” said Lisa Holt of Manger Ministry. “That was all we had there at that time. We saw there was a need so we developed Manger Ministry from that.”

    With support from the church and private donations, Manger Ministry is in its fourth year of providing food for community members in need.

  • Wallace - Breeden to wed

    George and Reda Lockwood of Williamstown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Cheryl (Sheri) D. Wallace to Randy W. Breeden, son of Virgil Breeden Jr. of Dry Ridge and the late Helen Breeden.

    The wedding is being planned for 5:30 p.m. May 9 at Knoxville Baptist Church.

    A reception will follow at Grant County High School.

    The bride is a 1978 graduate of Simon Kenton. She is also a 2003 graduate of Northern Kentucky University. She is employed by the Grant County Board of Education.

  • Let the games begin - activites open to seniors

    From bowling and billiards to shuffleboard and softball, the Northern Kentucky Senior Games offers local seniors an opportunity to show their skills.

    The annual event will held May 11-15 in Fort Thomas, Florence, Edgewood, Newport and Burlington and is open to residents of Grant and surrounding counties.

    Participants must be 50 years old by May 11.

    “Grant County has had a few people participate each year,” said Tabatha Fryman, Grant County Parks and Recreation director and a member of the Senior Games steering committee.

     The Dry Ridge Fire Department recently received a financial boost from the federal government.

    DRFD is one of four Kentucky fire departments that has received Assistance to Firefighters Grant funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
