  • Bart and Kendra Wheelington of Jonesville are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jessica Wheelington to Greg Atha, son of Greg and Denise Atha of Mount Zion.

    The wedding is being planned for 6 p.m. on June 4 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Dry Ridge. A reception will follow at the church.

    The bride is a 2009 graduate of Grant County High School and the groom is a 2008 graduate of Grant County High School.

  • James and Pat Ahlfeld will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 2. They were married June 2, 1950. They will celebrate with their son, Doug and his wife, Les, and their son Bob and his wife, Barbara, their seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

     

  • Although the 2009 Grant County Fair was the year of the down pours, the fair was not a washout. It was a year highlighted by the winners of different categories going on to compete at the Kentucky State Fair and doing great against other youth across the state. The fair board held a reception for the six state winners on April 8, 2010, to recognize them for their accomplishments.

  • Alexia Rose Moran has done it again.

    On Saturday, May 8 in Louisville, she was crowned the Most Beautiful Overall in the International Fresh Faces of Kentucky pageant.

    Alexis also won best smile and received a trophy, a $300 savings bond and $50 in cash.

    Now, Alexis is on her way to Daytona Beach, Fla., as a Kentucky state title holder for Most Beautiful.

    This will be her first national pageant.

    Alexis is the daughter of Humberto and Amber Moran of Owenton and granddaughter of Charlotte Linville (Claypool).

  • David and Darlene Yates of Crittenden are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Destiny Yates to Leighton Teusink, son of Morris and Lindzi Teusink of Clarksville, Mi.

    The bride is a 1998 graduate of Grant County High School. She is also a 2006 graduate of Northern Kentucky University.

    She is the director of Pregnancy Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

    The groom is employed by R.E. West.

    The wedding is being planned and the date will be announced later.

  • They’ve worked together over the past four years, forming a partnership that allows them to know exactly what the other one’s doing.

    Todd Anderson and Lee Burton make up a duo that drives the streets of Dry Ridge and Grant County every third day as EMS providers.

    Because of their dedication to serving others, the Dry Ridge Fire Department named the pair the 2009 Emergency Meducal Service Providers of the Year.
