  • Mickey and Linda Covey of Williamstown are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lori Lynn Covey, to Cody Ryan Kidwell, son of Steve Kidwell and Melissa Pugh of Williamstown.

    The wedding is being planned for 5:30 p.m. April 24 at the Williamstown Baptist Church. A reception will follow at the J.M.B. Hall in Dry Ridge.

    The bride is a 2007 graduate of Grant County High School and is employed by Cengage Learning Company.

    The groom is a 2007 graduate of Williamstown High School and is employed by Wal-Mart in Dry Ridge.

  • Diana Clifton and Michelle Marshall recently were awarded $1,000 scholarships for non-traditional students attending Northern Kentucky University Grant County Center.

    The scholarships, which are given out twice a year, are provided by the Grant County Conservation District.

    Clifton of Dry Ridge is a mother of a 10-year-old son who attends Williamstown Independent Schools.

    She is currently a sophomore and has a goal of earning a bachelor’s degree in social work.

  • Carly Middleton, the daughter of Greg and Misty Middleton and a sixth grader at Williamstown Jr./Sr. High School, served as Senator Damon Thayer’s page on March 17.

  • Raymond Miller, the son of James A. Miller and a sixth grader at Grant County Middle School, served as Senator Damon Thayer’s page on March 11.

  • Tom and Maria Mains wanted children of their own.

    After the Williamstown couple got married they tried for several years but had no luck.

    Maria, a 2001 graduate of Grant County High School, began to lobby Tom, a 1989 graduate of Pendleton County High School, about becoming foster parents. It took five years of sweet-talking before he finally agreed.

    In 2006, they received their first “children.” They’ve fostered nearly a dozen children since then. Some stay as little as 36 hours, while others have been with the Mains’ for two years.

  • Charles and Barbara Faulkner Vallandingham will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 3 to 5 p.m. April 18 at the Edgewood Senior Center on Freedom Park Drive.

    They were married March 20, 1960 at the Riverview Baptist Church by the Rev. Wendall Smith. They have two children, Melanie (Mike) Wood, Grady (Michelle) Vallandingham, five grandchildren, Nathan and LeeAnne Bingham, Chloe Wood, Garrett and Will Vallandingham.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend. The family requests prayers only, no gifts.
