  • Boy Scout Troop 712 and Cub Scout Pack 318 went on their annual Family Campout to Blue Licks Battlefield Park in July.

    At their camp fire, scouts participated in a flag retirement ceremony. Roy Osborne and Keith Hinton taught the scouts the proper way to retire a flag and stressed the seriousness of the ceremony.

    The troop plans to do these ceremonies periodically and will accept worn American flags from businesses and individuals. For more information regarding Boy Scout and Cub Scout chapters in Grant County, call 800-872-6887.

  • Army National Guard Pvt. Wendell R. Jacobson has graduated from the Basic Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

  • Dr. and Mrs. William “Ken” Rich of Williamstown are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rich to Andrew Dawson Lawrence, son of Mr. And Mrs. John C. Lawrence of Williamstown.

    A destination wedding is being planned for 3:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in Florida.

    The bride is a 1999 graduate of Williamstown High School. She is also a 2003 graduate of Georgetown College and is employed by Precision Dental Care.

  • Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Director of Army Instruction, David Taylor, left, is presented a Point of Pride by School Board member Eula Gardner Dowdy, on behalf of the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board, for being named seventh Brigade Director of Army Instruction. The Seventh Brigade is an area that encompasses Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana (this includes all 400 JROTC units in that region).

  • The Williamstown Woman’s Club met on Aug. 12 with guest speaker Daniel Bachman. There were nearly 50 people in attendance to hear Bachman speak about his recent experiences while on a mission trip in Kenya.

    The group enjoyed a dinner with an international theme and listened to special music performed by Hanna Kinsey, Corey Smith, Caitlyn Treichel and Carley Wagoner. They played “Salute to the Colors,” a piano duo for eight hands.

     

  • Randy and Beanna Bixler of Williamstown are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Rheanna Jo Bixler to Lenny Ray VanMeter, son of Raymond Earl VanMeter of Indiana and the late Leatha Mae VanMeter of Byrdstown, Tenn.

    The wedding will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Williamstown Baptist Church with a reception immediately following.

  • Keagan Yates and her horse, Anytimes A Goodtime  (Sweetie), competed at the 2010 American Ranch Horse Show in Murfreesboro, Tenn. in June. They walked away with a World Championship in amateur Showmanship award.

    During the week, they competed in may classes and placed in the top five and top 10.

    Yates is the daughter of Daryl and Tanda Yates of Dry Ridge. She is the granddaughter of Jake and Barbara Burgess and Berry Jo Burgess Wynn and Gene Wynn.
