    Dry Ridge family physician Darl T. Shipp, M.D. has joined Summit Medical Group. Dr. Shipp will continue to see patients at the same location in Dry Ridge. Dr. Shipp specializes in family medicine and is a native of Grant County. Shipp is also a graduate of Mason High School.

  • Rebecca Bowling and Charles Lewis would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Charlee Mae Lewis.
    Lewis was born at 9:04 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

    She weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces and was 21 and a half inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Gary and Barb Bowling of Dry Ridge. Her maternal great grandparents are the late Bob and Dot Bowling and the late James and Rose Ann Thomas.

  • Recently, the Grant County Farm Bureau was recognized for the achievements of its women’s program and received the 2012 Gold Star Award of Excellence during Kentucky Farm Bureau’s annual meeting in Louisville.

  • Tomorrow I will say goodbye to my wife and wish her well.  I will drop my kids off at school and tell them I love them. I will make the short drive to work. It will be like most other days.  
    Friday, in Newtown, Connecticut it seemed like a normal day too.  We were all taken aback and deeply saddened at the tragedy that struck that sleepy town last Friday.  Our hearts and prayers go out to them.  We cannot even imagine what they are feeling.

  • Corinth will get it’s grocery store back.  That is, once Terry and Linda Allen, owners of Allen’s Country Store get through the legal hoops to rebuild.
    The next step is a City Board of Adjustments meeting, which will be held Dec. 13 at the Corinth City Building.  

  • Picking out the perfect Christmas tree was something that I used to take very serious: all the cleaning and moving of furniture and packing of boxes and light-stringing and unstringing required a tree worth the effort! I have scaled back in recent years but still see the fun in finding a tree that fits your space and holds precious ornaments with style.

    Marian Wilhoite is the cheesiest. That’s what the letter telling her she had won the “I am a Velveeta Mom” said. The letter won Wilhoite $1,000 and a six-month supply of Velveeta cheese. Wilhoite was named one of 18 grand prize, first place winners. With four children Wilhoite has always used Velveeta.

  • Troy and Ashley Gordon of Dry Ridge would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Tessa Renee Gordon was born at 9:11 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

    She weighed 7 pounds and 2 ounces and was 19.29 inches long.
    Her maternal grandparents are Jerry and Pat Lower of Dry Ridge. Her maternal great grandparents are Ella Simpson and Lora Lower of Dry Ridge.

    Her paternal grandparents are Joe and Rosemary Gordon of Dry Ridge.

  • Fred and Evelyn Brock will celebrated their 60th anniversary on Dec. 13, 2012. They were married in Pikeville.

    They have two children, Larry and Michael Brock, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

    Fred is retired from General Electric Company.
    His wife, Evelyn is retired from Booth Hospital.
