  • Clyde Oliver is hanging up his scissors and shears after 50 years of cutting hair.
    That’s a lot of swept-up hair.
Entering Clyde’s Barber Shop on Paris Street in downtown Williamstown is like being transported into a different era.
Clyde mans the only barber’s chair in the shop and the focus is less on getting in and out and more on chatting with good friends.

  • From saving souls to shearing locks, Willie Ailstock sees similarities in pastoring and barbering.
“I’ve always felt this profession (barbering) is a service profession,” he said. “You are serving your community and you should do it with a smile because you are enjoying it because you want to do it not because you have to.”
Ailstock, who is the minister at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Williamstown, has opened his own barber shop next to Bruce’s Grocery in Mason.

  • In case you haven’t heard of Matt Harding let me tell you about him.
A former video game designer, at age 23 he quit his job to travel around Southeast Asia until his money ran out.
While he was in Hanoi taking photos, his travel buddy said, “Hey why don’t you stand over there and do your stupid dance and I’ll record it?”
Harding did his stupid signature dance and thought the video was funny, so he started doing it and recording it everywhere he went on his trip and posted it on his blog for his friends to see.

  • A while back I worked for a company in which my job was to transport the special needs to their daycare locations though out the Greater Cincinnati area. While working for the company I had the pleasure of meeting a man named Asaph, who was from the heart of Africa. Even when I first starting working in the company, it did not take long to connect with Asaph, being that he was a strong Christian man himself.

  • When I served a church in Mississippi, I was the recipient of an amazing gift. A couple in my church knew that I was a fan (fanatical and crazy…according to my wife) of the Kentucky Wildcats.  They came to me after church one day and said, “Barry, we know how much you love Kentucky and though we can’t stand them, we want to give you two tickets to a basketball game between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Kentucky Wildcats.
