  • Williamstown Christian feeds starving families

Since October members of the Williamstown Christian Church have been hearing facts and figures about hungry children and adults in the world. In January they began collecting change in blue plastic cups labeled “A Cup of Cold Water in Jesus’ Name.”

  • You can’t have that, it’s mine

In our editorial conference room at the newspaper I write for, during reporter staff meetings I sit in the end seat nearest the door.
It doesn’t have my name on it, but that’s my seat.
It’s not necessarily the best seat at the table; it’s just mine. It’s where I sit.
A few weeks ago, I walked into a reporter’s meeting and Mike, another reporter was in my seat.

  • A question posed to me

I was at a funeral recently and was asked by someone I met who was born and raised in Washington D.C.: “What do you see as the future for the church in 2014 and even further out?”  My reply was this: I see a future sifting of churches, individuals, pastors and denominations, meaning that I see the challenge to Christians, churches, and denominations growing in a way that will force people to decide whether or not to stand for historic orthodox Scriptural values, beliefs and morals.

  • Change of heart

You may or may not have picked up on a theme for the pastor’s column this month. Purity. What a foreign concept in our society! Nobody on TV is talking about purity. Nobody in Washington is talking about purity. Surprisingly, not many in our churches are talking about purity. The outside world doesn’t care about it, and the church is too nervous to discuss it. But here’s the reality: whether outside the church or in, we aren’t pure these days. The sin of self has led us to pursue everything but purity in our lives.

  • Heart problem

We have a problem.  I have a problem. You have a problem.  What is it? It’s our heart. Now, I am not talking about the muscle in your body that pumps blood and is necessary for physical life. I’m talking about the inward part of our soul that is necessary for true life, spiritual life.
