  • Jolly looking to grow Crittenden Christian

Shayanna Jolly wasn’t always sure she wanted to be a pastor.
“I was originally a drama major,” said the Transylvania University graduate. “I didn’t really want to be an actor, but I loved the arts and I wanted to be involved in non-profits in someway. Then, about the third year during my college experience, I got very involved in a church in Lexington called Central Christian Church. I started leading youth group programs there and getting really involved in the ministry.”

  • Best gift is forgiveness

Well? Did you do it? Did you have a Merry Christmas? Did Santa bring you everything you wanted? Did you spend lots of time with loved ones? Did you eat too much? Most importantly, did you take time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas? Did you ask yourself, “What’s the greatest gift I got this year?” I hope that you did. If not, why not do it now?

  • Grace of God

Tomorrow I will say goodbye to my wife and wish her well.  I will drop my kids off at school and tell them I love them. I will make the short drive to work. It will be like most other days.
Friday, in Newtown, Connecticut it seemed like a normal day too.  We were all taken aback and deeply saddened at the tragedy that struck that sleepy town last Friday.  Our hearts and prayers go out to them.  We cannot even imagine what they are feeling.

    • The true meaning of Christmas is not about presents. It’s about God’s gift to us - a baby in cloth laying a manger in a stable. God sent His Son born of a woman to Earth to help people learn the word if Christ Jesus. He died for our sins so we could have everlasting life.

  • Two things Jesus wants for us

Jesus knew that what he asks of us was not easy – devoting our entire life to his way of life – to die to self so that Christ could live in us. Jesus knew this left no room for things like slicing off little pieces of one’s life to do “good works” for God. That’s not a Christ-like lifestyle – it’s more like a toe dipped in the waters – and Jesus wants a whole lot more than our toes.
