  • A night of hope with David Ring

A night of hope with David Ring

Nationally known speaker David Ring will be speaking at 6:30 p.m. July 1 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Williamstown. The service will focus on how to emerge victorious rather than victimized in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.

  • Expect the unexpected

Expect the unexpected. This phrase is familiar to all of us; however I never find myself looking around the corner for something unexpected. In fact, I expect life to be the same. Too many surprises can upset the routine. When was the last time you were surprised by something?

The other day, my son and I were walking out into the garage to get a basketball to play with and we were taken by surprise. To our amazement, there were critters in our garage. At first I thought it was the neighbor’s cat but upon further review it was three baby raccoons.

  • RELIGIOUS VIEWS

Aren’t you sick and tired of politics these days? I think most of us are. I believe the political environment in our country has been contaminated with greed, selfishness and a “win-at-all-costs” mentality. Thus, we have to put up with a toxic mess of hate speak, condemnation and a disregard for the truth, as we all try to get to know candidates and understand their positions on the issues of the day.

    • June 10 - Harold Gambrell delivered an excellent message about how the Israelites went around the mountain for almost 40 years. The solution to a rut is to focus on Christ Jesus through worship and prayer and ask God for help along with searching the Word.

  • Often Loved, Often Hated but never forgotten

I have a bad habit of reading things in print that catch my eye. Whenever I see someone wearing a t-shirt with a message blazed across the front, I am drawn to read it. Sometimes I wish I hadn’t wasted my energy and sometimes I am amused or enlightened. In a day of extreme mass marketing, it is possible to see someone wearing any type of message or advertising.

  • Hope for ‘Good Daughters’

When my sister was little, she wiped spaghetti sauce from her mouth with a piece of bread.

This is a significant event in our family’s history because, as the Good Daughter, it is probably the one and only time Peggy ever got in trouble.

In a nanosecond, Peggy did the bread-wipe and Dad reached over and whacked her hand, which stunned us all.

Not that Dad whacked one of us, but that it was Peggy—the Good daughter!
