  • MAN ON A MISSION

Earl Hampton began a journey on Feb. 1.
Hampton started a 200 mile walk from Prestonsburg to Frankfort that will culminate for I Love Mountains Day on Feb. 14.

The “I Love Mountains Day” is to raise awareness of the destruction caused by mountaintop removal for the purpose of mining for coal.
Hampton, a minister at the Vineyard of Grant County, attended I Love Mountains Day in 2012 and thought about how he could get involved. He then signed up to receive an article from Kentuckians for the Commonwealth.

  • The rest of the story

There is a part of the Christmas story at odds with hope, peace, joy and love of Christmas, a part that can’t be in the Christmas Pageant:  the part after the visit of the Magi.

Evil is woven into the tapestry of the Christmas story when Herod orders  “the slaughter of the innocents” (Mt. 2:16-17) and Matthew quotes the Prophet Jeremiah:  “A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children. And she will not be comforted, because they are no more.” (Mt. 2:18; Jer. 31:15).

  • Hope in Jesus

In the first verse of the book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, it says; “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” We must understand that God created our world and created man and woman in his image.  The fact that he is creator reminds us that he is in control of our lives and he is the one we must look to.
In the first book of John, in the first verse, the same words are used,

  • Embrace not-perfectness for ‘happily ever after’

One day at the library, a book fell off a shelf and hit a boy named Milo Crinkley on the head.
The title, “Be A Perfect Person In Just Three Days,” was just what he needed.

  • Jolly looking to grow Crittenden Christian

Shayanna Jolly wasn’t always sure she wanted to be a pastor.
“I was originally a drama major,” said the Transylvania University graduate. “I didn’t really want to be an actor, but I loved the arts and I wanted to be involved in non-profits in someway. Then, about the third year during my college experience, I got very involved in a church in Lexington called Central Christian Church. I started leading youth group programs there and getting really involved in the ministry.”
