  • Has Jesus impacted your life?

When it rains it pours! Over the past few weeks, I have attended multiple funerals and visitations. As I prepare for these times, I like to discuss the legacy of the deceased with the family. How will this person be remembered? What are the qualities that stand out here at the end? This process usually leads me to consider my own life and legacy. What will people remember about me when I’m gone? What are the stories and memories people will have of me as they say goodbye?

  • Perfection is pressure

Back in the day, as I am prone to say, I worked in upper management for a couple of large national nonprofit organizations. As part of my professional development at one of those institutions, I got hooked up with a management consultant in Arizona. He became my “personal management coach” and we conducted the sessions by phone.

  • Men, tongues

In my defense, I had just come from undergoing a medical test done under sedation, which may or may not have loosened my tongue.
Whatever the reason, I said something that embarrassed my husband.

We had stopped at a local restaurant for a burger. I ordered the thickest, beefiest, cheesiest burger on the menu, plus fries and my husband ordered a veggie burger and a salad.

    • Always tell the truth no matter what. Be honest to the best of your ability. God said to tell the truth,  just like He did when He died on the Cross for us, for our sin when He was here on Earth. Jesus paid the price for truth and died for it. Are we doing what God wants us to do?

  • Lent...a time of remembrance

Have you ever had your face painted? Did you get whiskers to make you look like a cat or a rainbow to make you look happy?  Do you remember the feeling you had as a small child on Halloween? When you could wear a mask and pretend to be someone or something magical? Ash Wednesday is drawing near and it is a time of year when Christians are invited to add something special to their face—actually, their forehead—to help them remember who they really are and what it means to follow Christ. We smear ashes on our foreheads to mark the beginning of the season of Lent.

  • Get to asking!

I used to love to go to Sam’s club.  When I was going to school in Memphis, Tenn,  I would swing by and “visit” the store to look around and then make my rounds for the free samples and that would be my lunch (Hey! Don’t judge me. It was good eats and it was free!)
