  • Community Jam planned May 12

    A Community Jam will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. May 12 in Dry Ridge.

    This is a free concert, just off the Dry Ridge exit (159) on Fashion Ridge and Curry Lane, past Cracker Barrel.

    The event will be a coming together to share a good time with the community for all. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

    There will be volleyball, kids games, cornhole, hot dogs and more.

    Bands playing include:
    • Vineyard band at 1 p.m.
    • Holdfast at 2 p.m.
    • First Love at 3 p.m.
    • Altared at 4 p.m.

    Christ Community
    • May 3 -  National Day of Prayer, the church will be open all day for anyone who wants to come in and pray or just sit and meditate while listening to soft worship music. Coffee served.
    • May 5 - Dave and Debbie Amsler, who were the Assembly of God Kentucky District Youth Directors for 16 years and now on the mission field, join us to greet people and hand out literature. Again, the church will be opened to visitors.

    • April 22 - We had three young missionaries visit the church and share their testimonies.
    • May 3 - National Day of Prayer - The church will be open for anyone who would like to come in and pray. We are at 139 North Main Street in Williamstown. You are welcome to come in and just enjoy the presence of God.

  • The Great Coverup of 2011

    In the continuing saga of my ongoing battle over household decor with my husband, this time it’s the back sliding glass door. But before I get in to that, let me back up to say that in the first 30 years or so of our marriage my husband rarely expressed an opinion about how to decorate the house except for one hard and fast rule, I could choose any color to paint the walls as long as it was antique or Navaho white. Other than that I had free reign and I love to reign. Then he retired and all of a sudden became Mr. HGTV Design Star DIY Guy. With opinions.

    • Christ Community also had an exciting Easter morning in Sunday School and Worship. The children rendered a special presentation, which is always a blessing.
    • The midweek Bible studies are, one for women at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays starting with lunch and at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesdays.

    • April 12 - Young at Heart will leave the church parking lot at 10 a.m. and go to Bernheim Forest.

  • After Easter, what if?

    The eggs have been found, the bunny has moved on to other things.

    The lilies have left the sanctuary; the cross will be put back in the foyer of the church. The Friday fish fries are done for the year. The pastel ties will go back into the closet. The news magazines will get back to everyday politics and world news. Easter is over.

    We have a tendency to get through holidays and just move on to the next one. We will begin seeing all the summer items in the stores and soon all the patriotic products ready for the next major holiday.

  • Crittenden Christian meets growing demands

    “Crittenden Christian Church – a community of hope and healing,” are the words that adorn a banner at the front of the historical frame structure on U.S. 25 in the heart of Crittenden.

    That’s a mission the small congregation is focused on and could be the reason they’ve begun to experience growth and the need for more space.

    “By faith, this congregation stepped out and said let’s build,” said Pastor Jerry Zehr.

  • Dry Ridge Presbyterian hosts community service

    Dry Ridge Presbyterian Church, 15 Warsaw Avenue, will host a community worship service at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 5.

    Crittenden Christian Church and Dry Ridge Christian Church members will also be a part of this service.

    “Because of the strong community support of a Christmas Candlelight Service based on scripture and song, it was decided to have a Tenebrae Service, which includes the passion narrative from the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John amid decreasing candlelight,” said Julie Donahue, music director at Dry Ridge Presbyterian Church.
