  • Get off the fence

As I sit here and prayerfully petition the Lord what to write to you, there is one question in the Word that is clear in which, He is leading my heart too. The question can be found as spoken by the prophet Elijah to the so-called prophets of that false god Baal.
Elijah yells to the top of his lungs from Mount Carmel, “How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him.”

  • Hope beyond the garden

I remember watching the “Lord of the Rings” movies for the first time. In the beginning of the story, the viewer is immediately introduced to the Shire, a place that can only be described as a simple, light-hearted state of innocency.

  • What is your sign from God?

For the most part I’m not a fan of the “Messages from God” billboards (“What part of ‘Thou Shalt Not’ didn’t you understand?” “Keep using my name in vain and I’ll make rush hour longer,” “You think it’s hot here?”)

  • When the storm comes

Recently, the United States has been bombarded with tragedy after tragedy — hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, etc. Often many will blame God declaring it was “an act of God,” yet, this is more of rationalizing the problem of worldly sin and the consequences thereof.
The statement is not all untrue, for God is sovereign and allows the storms of life to occur for a reason. In Houston during the recovery and assistance operation, many came together and helped those who were devastated by the Hurricane Harvey.
