  • Taylor-Threlkeld to wed

    Mr. and Mrs. David Taylor of Cynthiana announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Pamela Gail to Charles David, son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Threlkeld of Williamstown.

    The wedding is being planned for 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 at Williamstown Christian Church. A reception will follow at the JMB Center in Dry Ridge.

  • Taylor sworn in as county attorney

    Lescal “Joe” Taylor of Crittenden was sworn in on Nov. 14 as the Grant County attorney. Circuit Judge Stephen Bates conducted the ceremony as Taylor’s wife, Pat, holds the Bible while Taylor takes the oath of office. Taylor defeated Jack Gatlin, who had been apponted as Grant County attorney earlier this year, in the Nov. 4 election. Taylor will fill the remainder of the term of office through 2009. This vacancy was created when Ed Lorenz retired as county attorney.

    James and Amanda Saylor of Crittenden announce the birth of their second child.

    Addalee Jean Saylor was born at 4:09 p.m. on August, 31, 2008, at St. Luke West in Florence.

    She weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was 21.25 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Carl and Kathy Franklin of Covington.

    Her maternal great grandmother is Rita Jacob of Covington.

    Her paternal grandparents are Bill and Kim Saylor of Dry Ridge.

    Her paternal great grandparents are Ronnie and Barb Stephenson of Dry Ridge.

  • Crittenden author signs books at state event

    Crittenden author Ryan Clark will be signing his book on basketball, ‘Game of My Life: Kentucky,’ at the 27th annual Kentucky Book Fair on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the downtown Frankfort Convention Center.

    The 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Book Fair is free and will feature more than 200 authors, artists and illustrators.

    In Clark’s book, 30 former Wildcats relive their defining moments at Kentucky.

    Timothy Ray Webster, Jr. and Kimberly Fern Bell of Dry Ridge announce the birth of their first child.

    Alivia Fern Webster was born at 1:05 p.m. on July 21, 2008 at St. Elizabeth South in Edgewood.

    She weighed 5 pounds, 10.4 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Alesia and Tony Turley of Dry Ridge and Tom and Kelly Bell of Mount Vernon, Ohio.

    Her maternal great grandparents are Irene and Gene Willoughby of Williamstown, Janet Turley of Independence and Clarice Bell of Mount Vernon, Ohio.

  • Mathews, girl, Sept. 11

    Chaz and Nichole Mathews of Williamstown announce the birth of their third child.

    Kendyl Grace Mathews was born at 11:40 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

    She weighed 9 pounds and was 21.5 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are David and Carol Schramm of Georgetown.

    Her paternal grandparents are Gene and Teresa Mathews of Dry Ridge.

    Kendyl was welcomed home by her big brother, Corey and big sister, Braidie.

  • Hometown Hero: Firefighter puts out Alabama motel blaze

    Justin Richardson, a Norfolk Southern Railroad employee, had just settled into room 144 of the Holiday Inn Express in Florence, Alabama to watch TV around 8:15 p.m on Oct. 27, when he heard a beeping noise.

    “It kept going off, so I went outside to see what it was,” Richardson said.

    After slipping on his tennis shoes and investigating, he discovered the beeping sound was the fire alarm and smoke was pouring from room 244, the room just above his.
