  • Williamstown students honored for posters

    Four Williamstown students were recently recognized for their artwork in the annual Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s 2008 Adopt-a-Highway poster contest.

    Williamstown Senior High sophomore Taylor Stith placed second in the 14 to 17 age category.

    “I was really, really excited,” she said. “I worked really hard on it for about two and a half weeks. It felt really special to be second. It was a lot bigger deal than I expected.”

  • Holleran honored with Highest Heels award

    Darla Holleran, family advocate social worker with the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center, was recently presented with the Highest Heel Award at the Hope in Heels Award Luncheon in Covington.

  • Flachs girl, Dec. 19

    Charlie Flachs and Sheila Prince of Dry Ridge announce the birth of their second child.

    Morgan Lee Flachs was born at 2:46 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2008, at St. Elizabeth South in Edgewood.

    She weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 18.75 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Pete and Judy Loomis of Crittenden.

    Her paternal grandparents are Charles and Joan Flachs of Corinth.

    Morgan was welcomed home by Adam Prince and Amber Flachs.

     

  • Simpsons celebrate 72 years

    Johnny and Williah Simpson will celebrate their 72nd anniversary on Jan. 10, 2009.

    Johnny and Williah were married at the Grant County Court House in Williamstown.

    The couple have four children.

    Their names are Wilbur Simpson, Betty Rodgers and Beverly Mulberry, all of Crittenden, and the late Layle Simpson.

    The couple has four grandchildren, Brian Rodgers, Michelle King, Deanna Gabbert and Dustin Mulberry and six great grandchildren, Brittany, Morgan, Mason, Cody, Carter and Parker.

  • Caldwells celebrate 50 years

    Jackie and Lovell Caldwell will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Jan. 16, 2009.

    The couple were married by Bro. Marvin Warner at Corinth Baptist Church in Corinth.

    In observance of their anniversary, a party will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the Farm Bureau building in Williamstown. The party is given by their children.

    Jackie and Lovell have three children. Their names are Kevin Caldwell of Dry Ridge, Tracie Tillery of Florence and Terry Caldwell of Corinth.

  • Baby of the week - Donovan Ty Abney

    Hi! My name is Donovan Ty Abney. I was born on Jan. 12, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

    My mother is Rebecca “Bookie” Abney.

    My grandparents are Donna Robinson of Dry Ridge, Dillard and Mary Abney of Taylor Mill and Betty and Jack Borman of Villa Hills.

    My favorite things to do are to play outside, cars, trucks and dinosaurs. I also love playing with all of my cousins, I have 13 and one on the way. My aunts and uncles spoil me rotten, they play with me and just can’t get enough.

  • Kinman, twins, Sept. 25

    Casey and Kristi Kinman of Dry Ridge announce the birth of their twins.

    Emmy Lynn and Tucker Lee were born at 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2008 at St. Luke Hospital.

    Emmy Lynn weighed 5 pounds, 8 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    Tucker Lee weighed 5 pounds, 1 ounce and was 18 inches long.

    Their maternal grandparents are David and Pam Pennington of Dry Ridge.

    Their paternal grandparents are Arthur and Pat Kinman of Dry Ridge.

    Emmy and Tucker were welcomed home by their cousins, Brailynn and Cole.

  • Flege-Marshall set date

    Jewell Martin and the late Randall Martin, and Debra Peters and Robert Flege, both of Williamstown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Nikki Flege, to Jeffrey Marshall Jr., son of Rebecca Marshall Jones and Jeff Marshall Sr. and Ralph and Georgia Marshall, both of Williamstown.

    The wedding is being planned for 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 at Williamstown Baptist Church. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall in Williamstown.

    The bride is a 2001 graduate of Williamstown High School.

  • Lanter celebrates 90 years

    Ann Lanter’s 90th birthday on Nov. 16, 2008 was celebrated by members of the Faithful Workers Sunday school class at Dry Ridge Baptist Church, a class she taught until a few months ago.

    Post 6 Kentucky State Police retired troopers, officers and staff attended as well. Lanter retired from Post 6 in Dry Ridge.

    Family members and friends attended the celebration and shared punch, cake and other delicacies with Lanter.
