  • Walton, boy, July 21

    Josh and Sarah Walton of Dry Ridge would like to announce the birth of their first child. Phoenix Todd Walton was born at 9:16 a.m. on July 21 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.  He weighed six pounds and 10.6 ounces and was 19 inches long.


    His maternal grandparents are Bo and Kathy Smith of Owenton. His maternal great grandparents are Raymond and Gracie McIntosh of Owenton.


    His paternal grandparents are the late Sgt. Todd M. Walton of Morningview. His paternal great grandparents are Larry and Sherry Walton of Morningview.

  • Ceremony salutes efforts to save lives

    The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS) honored 126 law enforcement officers from 123 agencies across the Commonwealth for their efforts to increase the use of seat belts and child restraints. including Post 6 in Dry Ridge.

    LeeAnne Elizabeth Vallandingham Bingham and Kevin Roy Hendry were united in marriage on June 2 at a private, celtic ceremony in Sevierville, Tenn.
    LeeAnne is the daughter of Michael Wood of Burlington and  granddaughter of Charles Vallandingham of Edgewood.
    Kevin is the son of Pete Hendry of Bright, Ind.
    The couple are residing in Muncy, Pa.

    What motivated you to live a healthier lifestyle? Seeing my  mom and others having health issues—high blood pressure, asthma, etc.--and knowing living healthy would off-set a lot of these. Also, as I got older, knowing if I kept up the way I was going, I would not live to 100 like I plan to do.

    Keith and Cindy Webster of Dry Ridge would like to announce the birth of their second child. Natalie Kayelynn Webster was born at 3:35 p.m. June 25, 2012 at St. Elizabeth South in Edgewood.


    She weighed seven pounds and one ounce and was 19 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Bill and Edith West of Dry Ridge.

    Her paternal grandparents are David and Patricia Webster of Dry Ridge.
    Natalie was welcomed home by her big sister, Alexis Kyleah.

  • Slaughter wins Duck Stamp contest

    The Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design program is an educational program designed to teach wetland-habitat and waterfowl conservation to students in kindergarten through high school. Students create visually what they have learned by creating an entry for the Duck Stamp art contest.

    Over 1,000 students in Kentucky submitted their entries, 100 awards were given out. Instructor Mary Lucas, of Lucas Arts had seven entries, all received awards. Students in Kentucky compete against other students in their age category. Each Lucas Art student worked hard on their entry.

  • Rose - Keeney wed May 26 in Williamstown

    Stacy Rose, daughter of Donald and Pamela Rose of Independence and Christopher Keeney, son of Marie Justice Keeney of Independence were united in marriage May 26, 2012 at the Justice Farm ridge top overlooking the farm in Williamstown.
     

    Michael Justice, cousin of the groom, officiated the double ring ceremony.

    The bride wore a white gown with a beaded sweetheart lace bodice, button up back with cap sleeves, and satin side draped and pick up detail A-line gown with a vintage birdcage veil. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

  • County receives $$ from KACo

    The Grant County Fiscal Court received a check for $10,397 from the Kentucky Association of Counties.

    The check represents a dividend payment to the County from the KACo Workers Compensation Fund, which provides workers compensation insurance coverage to county governments and other political subdivisions across Kentucky.  KACo insures 113 of Kentucky’s 120 counties through the Workers Compensation Fund.
