  • Caldwell-Gilbert to wed

    Kevin and Rhonda Caldwell of Dry Ridge are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Staci Danielle Caldwell to Dustin Lee Gilbert, son of Ben Gilbert of Dry Ridge and Jewell Gilbert of Burlington.

    The wedding is planned for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

    A reception will follow at Stonewood Gardens in Falmouth.

    The bride is a 2008 graduate of Grant County High School. She is a student at Beckfield College. She is employed by the Steven N. Howe Law Office in Dry Ridge.

  • Marcums recognized by Farm Credit Services

    Rufus and Janet Marcum of DeMossville were honored for being a long time supporter of the national Farm Credit System.

    The Marcums have been married since 1949 and they will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this month. The Marcums have eight children, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Their first loan with Farm Credit Services was for an eight-end Ford tractor and their farming operation consists of raising hay and tobacco since 1961.

  • The Number Nine

    Sept. 9, 2009 was a memorable day for young man from Dry Ridge.

    Nicholas Day turned 9 years old on 9-9-09.

    He is the son of Tim and Mondell Day. His grandparents are Richard and Jewel Knight and Bob and Nancy Day.

    Nicholas has a brother, Patrick.

    He is a fourth grade student at St. Joseph Academy in Walton.

    He loves the Bengals. His favorite player is #9 Carson Palmer.

    He enjoys art, computer games and watching the Food Network.

    His favorite number is nine.

  • Market Day orders due Sept. 11

    Junior ROTC cadets at Grant County High School are participating in the Market Day fundraising program.

    Market Day is a fundraising food cooperative. Each month, Market Day offers 150 convenient and nutritious products including poultry, meats, seafood, family meals, appetizers, breakfast items, beverages and desserts.

  • Epperson celebrates 92nd birthday

    On Sat., Aug. 15, a 92nd birthday party was given for Loretta Epperson, of Corinth, at Butler State Park in Carrollton.

  • Detectives honored for bravery, sensitivity

    Two detectives from Kentucky State Police Post 6 in Dry Ridge were recently honored.

    Detective Kevin Flick was named Trooper of the Year at Post 6 and Detective Scott Lengle was awarded a Citation for Bravery.

    Lengle was given a citation for bravery for his actions on May 6, 2007 when he responded to a residential fire near Falmouth.

    Lengle was the first on the scene at 2:48 a.m.. He entered the burning home and pulled the occupant to safety. He gave aid to the victim until emergency services arrived.

  • Straub - Straub to wed

    Agnes Dawalt Straub and Donnie G. Straub are pleased to announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    Agnes is the daughter of the late Leo and Thelma Dawalt of Covington and Donnie is the son of the late Earl Straub of Portland and Hazel Straub of Demossville.

    The wedding is planned for 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 at the Falmouth Baptist Church.

    A reception will follow in the church’s fellowship hall at 4th and Maple Avenue in Falmouth.

    The bride is a caseworker for Pendleton County Child Support.

    Keith and Cindy Webster of Dry Ridge would like to announce the birth of their first child.

    Alexis Kyleah Webster was born at 8:45 p.m. on April 17, 2009 at St. Luke West Hospital.

    She weighed 6 pounds and 4 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Bill and Edith West of Dry Ridge.

    Her paternal grandparents are David and Patricia Webster of Dry Ridge.

    Alexis Kyleah was welcomed home by her uncles, David and Michael Webster.

  • Taylor, girl, Feb. 26

    Jesse and Natasha Compton Taylor of Independence are proud to announce the birth of their first child.

    Jeslyn Alexa Taylor was born at 1:48 p.m. on Feb. 26, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

    She weighed 5 pounds and 14.5 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Trisha Noonan of Independence and Todd Compton of Crittenden. Her maternal great grandparents are Lee Callahan and Gail Smith of Dry Ridge and Tom and Lois Compton of Glencoe.

    The descendants of John and Annie B. Skirvin will hold the annual family reunion on Aug. 23 at Grant County Park in Crittenden.

    Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish.

    Mulligan

    The descendants of George Lewis (1844-1923) and Mary William Ritchie (1850-1943) will hold their annual reunion on Sept. 5 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds, 4-H Building.

    The reunion will start at 11 a.m. with a potluck lunch at 12:30 p.m.

    Attendees should bring a meat dish, covered dish, drinks and utensils to share.
