  • Updike completes basic training

    Air Force Airman Amber R. Updike graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas where she completed an intensive eight-week program.

    Updike is now at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls completing her technical training for 14 weeks.

    Her home base will be Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Airlift Wing at Louisville.

    Updike is the daughter of Rod Updike of Dry Ridge and Robin Debruyn of Florence.

  • Beekeepers host Kentucky author

    The Grant County Backyard Beekeepers will host visiting Kentucky author Dr. Tammy Horn at 7 pm. Feb. 8 at the Grant County Extension Building at 105 Baton Rouge Rd. in Williamstown. 

  • Walters, boy, Dec. 5

    Caleb and Sheena Walters of Williamstown would like to announce the birth of their first child.

    Croix Taft Walters was born at 8:32 a.m. on Dec. 5, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.

    He weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    His maternal grandparents are Terry and Deanna Caldwell of Corinth. His maternal great grandparents are Jackie and Lovell Caldwell of Dry Ridge; and Vernon and Bea Mullins of Dry Ridge.

  • Terrell, boy, April 17

    Terry and Jeanna Terrell of Lexington would like to announce the birth of their second child.

    Caleb Brent Terrell was born at 3:15 p.m. on April 17, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

    He weighed 7 pounds and 10 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    His maternal grandparents are Joe and Carol Menefee of Walton. His maternal great grandmother is Bonnie Burden of Florence.

  • Williamstown Methodist gets new pastor

    On Jan. 11, the Williamstown United Methodist Church services began with a new pastor at the helm.

    As an aerographer’s mate for the U.S. Navy, Barry Robinson had everything planned out, but his own plans were derailed.

    “In my entire life, my one goal was to be a tornado chaser,” Robinson said smiling. “I was a weather guesser for the Navy, stationed in San Diego, Calif.”

  • Friends of Sherman Tavern to meet Feb. 1

  • Hamm, girl, Dec. 17

    Nick Hamm and Heather DeVore of Crittenden would like to announce the birth of their first child.

    Alexandria Rose Hamm was born at 11:06 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood.

    She weighed 4 pounds and 13 ounces and was 17 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Steve and Lisa DeVore of Corinth. Her maternal great grandparents are Ken and Marsha DeVore of Florida and Herman and Becky Wilson of Tennessee.

    Her paternal grandparents are Herman and Lillian Hamm of Dry Ridge.

  • AARP Tax-aide offered at senior center

    AARP Tax-aide is offering free income tax preparation including e-filing at the Williamstown Senior Center (in the City Building). This service is available to all tax payers with low to middle income with special attention to those age 60 and older.

    Please bring:

    • SS cards for each person claimed on the return

    • All income statements (W-2s, 1099’s, unemployment statement)

    • Dependent care information

    • All receipts or documentation for taxes paid if itemizing

  • Ducker to celebrate 95th birthday

    Alleen Wells Ducker, of Williamstown, formerly of Pendleton County, will celebrate her 95th  birthday on Jan. 27.

    In 1947, she married Russell Ducker, who died in 1963. They raised two nephews, Clyde and Donald Ray Wells, sons of her twin brother, James Newton Wells and Catherine Davenport Wells. They later adopted Don, who, at that time, was attending Morgan School in Pendleton County.

  • Humphrey-Jones set date

    James and Linda Humphrey of Versailles are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jessica Ann Humphrey to Will Jones, son of Roy and Pam Jones of Versailles.

    The wedding is planned for 1:30 p.m. on May, 8, 2010 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Versailles.

    The bride and groom are graduates of Woodford County High School.
