  • Corinth couple find love; write about journey

    Jeanine Lister and William McCann Jr. met online in September 2011 through a dating site.

    They had both been in long and short term relationships, but were looking for the “right” person to build a relationship with.
    They spent 10 days trading emails. Some containing the standard early relationship kind of information, while others contained what some may consider quirky, random thoughts, where they would finish each other’s sentence or line of thinking.

  • Dispatcher honored for quick action

    It didn’t matter that Rebecca Henry was off duty from her job as a 911 emergency dispatcher with the Kentucky State Police, when she heard a call for help, she answered .

    Her selfless act earned her statewide recognition as the recipient of the 2012 Kentucky Governor’s Ambassador Award for Courage.

    After finishing up a night on third shift on April 26, 2012, she went home to get some sleep, but a loud noise awakened her around 3:30 p.m.

  • Smallwood inducted into Union College Business Hall of Fame

    Terry Smallwood, of Lexington, vice president – investment officer of Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC of Lexington graduated from Union College with a degree in accounting and business. Since then, he has been putting that degree to work, making himself one of the top financial advisors with Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC.

    Since 2011,  Smallwood has been ranked in the top 25 percent of financial advisors for the company, and also has been named vice president-investment officer and premier advisor in 2011.

  • Tina Melton attends new clerk’s orientation program

    Kentucky’s latest class of elected circuit court clerks got a jump start on preparing to take office at a comprehensive orientation program that the Administrative Office of the Courts provided Dec. 11-13 in Lexington. The new circuit court clerks were elected in the November 2012 general election and will take office Jan. 7, 2013.
     

    Tina Melton of Grant County participated in the 2012 Circuit Court Clerks’ Newly Elected Officials Orientation.

  • Williamstown councilmembers recognized for service

    Three members of the Williamstown City Council were recognized earlier this month for their combined 55 years of service to the city.


    Williamstown Mayor Rick Skinner presented Robert “Bob” Perry, Stanley Woodyard and Glenn Caldwell with plaques at the Dec. council meeting.
    Caldwell opted not to run for re-election. Perry and Woodyard lost their bid for re-election in the November election, which garnered a field of 10 candidates for six seats.

  • Lewis, girl, Aug. 20

    Rebecca Bowling and Charles Lewis would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Charlee Mae Lewis.
    Lewis was born at 9:04 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

    She weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces and was 21 and a half inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Gary and Barb Bowling of Dry Ridge. Her maternal great grandparents are the late Bob and Dot Bowling and the late James and Rose Ann Thomas.

  • Grant Co. Farm Bureau receives Women’s Gold Star of Excellence

    Recently, the Grant County Farm Bureau was recognized for the achievements of its women’s program and received the 2012 Gold Star Award of Excellence during Kentucky Farm Bureau’s annual meeting in Louisville.

  • Gordon, girl, Aug. 12, 2012

    Troy and Ashley Gordon of Dry Ridge would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Tessa Renee Gordon was born at 9:11 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

    She weighed 7 pounds and 2 ounces and was 19.29 inches long.
    Her maternal grandparents are Jerry and Pat Lower of Dry Ridge. Her maternal great grandparents are Ella Simpson and Lora Lower of Dry Ridge.

    Her paternal grandparents are Joe and Rosemary Gordon of Dry Ridge.

  • Brocks celebrate 60 years

    Fred and Evelyn Brock will celebrated their 60th anniversary on Dec. 13, 2012. They were married in Pikeville.

    They have two children, Larry and Michael Brock, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

    Fred is retired from General Electric Company.
    His wife, Evelyn is retired from Booth Hospital.
     

  • Tractor Supply manager appears on ‘Tough Grit’

    Kim Fister, manager of the Williamstown Tractor Supply store, appeared on the 13th episode of “TOUGH GRIT”, a DIY television show that combines rural-lifestyle experts from Tractor Supply Company with competitive team challenges. In the Nov. 26 episode of “TOUGH GRIT,” Fister taught the contestant how to properly set up a bird house, plant a tree and develop a wildlife habitat in the backyard.
