  • WHS senior competes at state Governor’s Cup

    They say like mother, like daughter.
    It’s true for Williamstown High School senior Tessa Withorn and her mom, Tina.

    Tina, who teaches seventh grade language arts at Williamstown Middle School, has been an inspiration to Tessa’s path in education.
    “She’s been a huge impact,” Tessa said about her mom. “She read to us when we were little so many books. That’s where I get my passion for reading.”

  • Maines receives 4-H Gold Star Award

    You could say that Curtis Maines, a senior at Williamstown High School, is a star.

    Actually he’s a 4-H gold star winner, earning top honors in the Kentucky 4-H program this year.

    Maines, the son of Ronnie and Brenda Maines, has been involved in 4-H for half his life. Starting when he was 9 years old, he started out working with animals.

    “I was passionate about livestock and then discovered  his leadership skills and that I like helping other kids,” Maines said.

     Sara Jean Nargessi and R. Christopher Burton were united in marriage on Aug. 6, 2011 at Southland Christian Church in Lexington. Reverend Steve Offutt officiated at the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her parents, Bijan Nargessi and Regina Fox.
    Serving as maid of honor was Tara Offutt, sister of the bride, of Jacksonville, Fla. The bridesmaids were Jannell Sargent of Richmond, Elizabeth Burton of Nicholasville, LeeAnn Kenney of Florence and Lauren Heeger and Nicole Gleason, both of Lexington.

  • Faulkner celebrates 90th birthday

     

    Jouett Faulkner of Dry Ridge will celebrate his 90th birthday from 2 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the Kentucky Farm Bureau Building, lower level, in Williamstown.
    This is a surprise party given by his family. The family requests no gifts.

    Aaron and Holly Pelfrey would like to announce the birth of their first child.
    Payton Renee Pelfrey was born at 10:37 a.m. on Jan. 19, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. She weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 20 ¼ inches long.
    Her maternal grandparents are Thelma and the late Basil Wampler of Dry Ridge. Her paternal grandparents are Randy and Shirley Pelfrey of Dry Ridge.
