I am a member of Sherman Church of Christ and am involved with the women’s group at the church. I also help on the kitchen committee and in October will be a Master Clothing Volunteer.

  • Wainscott completes basic training

    Natalie Carol Wainscott, of Crittenden, recently completed U.S. Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. She is now in Pensacola, Fla. at the Naval Base Station.

    Wainscott is the daughter of Nancy C. Lewis Wainscott and the late Thomas E. Wainscott. Her grandparents are Robert E. Lewis and the late Dorothy Mae Robinson Lewis.

    She is a graduate of Simon Kenton High School and worked at Federal Express in Mt. Zion before she joined the Air Force.

     

  • St. E. offers stroke screening

    The St. Elizabeth CardioVascular Mobile Health Unit will be offering stroke and cardiovascular screenings in June. Special pricing of $75 for all three main screenings, including peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery and abdominal aortic aneurysm are offered.

    An EKG screening is available for $35 or $110 for all four screenings. Locally, the screening will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 12 at St. Elizabeth-Grant County. To make an appointment, call 859-301-9355.

  • Dry Ridge High School holds alumni banquet

    The Dry Ridge High School Alumni Banquet was held at the Dry Ridge Christian Church Fellowship Hall on April 28, 2012. This was the 65th meeting of the group, with 39 guests and graduates present.

    The class of 1952 was honored and had six members present. The class was represented by Cabin E. Thomas. All graduates were introduced and gave a short history of their days at Dry Ridge High School.

  • Free cancer screening June 9

    Melanoma Know More and St. Elizabeth Healthcare have teamed up to offer a free skin cancer screening from 10 a.m.- noon on June 9 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Grant County.

    Melanoma Know More strives to reduce the impact of melanoma through awareness, education, support of medical research and assistance to people affected by melanoma.

    Knowing more about melanoma, your skin, prevention and early detection can make a major impact should you be detected with a melanoma.

  • Girl Scouts host “It’s A Girl’s Life” on July 2 at library

    Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council, in collaboration with the Grant County Library will host the free “It’s a Girl’s Life” program beginning at 1 p.m. on July 2 at the Grant County Public Library.

    The program is open to all girls in the Grant County area that will be in grades K-5 in the fall of 2012.  “It’s a Girl’s Life” will run from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on July 2, July 9, July 16 and July 23.
