    What motivated you to live a healthier lifestyle? I was over 200 pounds. I needed to change.

    How have you changed your lifestyle in order to be healthier? I am more active. I eat healthier and drink plenty of water.

    What is your favorite fitness activity? I enjoy weight lifting. I work out five days a week and hold the state bench press record of 120 pounds.

  • Rider - Cummins wed March 25; reception planned April 28

    Brooke Rider and Mark Cummins were united in marriage on March 25, 2012, at The Hogan House in Dry Ridge. Josh Cummins officiated the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father,  Charles Rider.

    Serving as maid of honor was Sabryn Wooton, daughter of the bride, of Dry Ridge. The bridesmaid was Taylor Cummins, daughter of the groom. Serving as best man was Logan Cummins, son of the groom, of Dry Ridge.

  • Local cadet helps tornado victims

    The U.S. Army Cadet Corps (USAC), headquartered at Forest Hill Station in Millersburg, Kentucky, deployed 50 Cadets and cadre to Frenchburg, Kentucky recently for three days in support of tornado relief efforts.  

    USAC responded to a request from the Menifee County Sheriff’s office for manpower support for the devastated community, hit by tornados earlier this month.   The storms were the worst to hit the eastern part of Kentucky in almost 25 years.

  • Robinson celebrates 100th birthday

    Arlin Robinson will celebrate his 100th birthday at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. on March 24 at Sherman Full Gospel Church.
    Robinson was born in the mountains of Manchester, Ky. on March 23, 1912.  He spent a lot of his growing up years in the company of his uncle.

    Club: A former member of Sherman-Mt. Zion  Homemakers and currently a mailbox member.

    Hobbies: I enjoy sewing and making crafts.

    Years involved in homemakers: 40 years

    What do you get out of being a member of homemakers: I have made a lot of friendships through the years and continue to use the skills that I learned from past lessons.

    Grant County Emergency Management in cooperation with the National Weather Service is hosting its annual Storm Spotters Trainin from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 3 at the Grant County Public Library in Williamstown.
    This two-hour class, which covers how and what to look for in severe weather situations, as well as precautions that must be taken to ensure your safety, is free.

    Ryan and Betsy True of Dry Ridge would like to announce the birth of their first child.
    Aidan Patrick True was born at 2:01 p.m. on Oct. 11, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. He weighed 7 pounds and 8 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    His maternal grandparents are Pat Kinman of Dry Ridge and Arthur Kinman of Dry Ridge. His maternal grandparents are Christine Kinman of Dry Ridge.
    His paternal grandparents are Carol and Patrick True of Dry Ridge. His paternal great grandparents are Edna Coleman of Dry Ridge and JoAnne True of Corinth.

  • ‘Learn Before You Burn’ to be offered March 22

    A free one-hour session,  Learn Before You Burn  will be offered from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 at the Williamstown City Building.
