  • Fox, girl, April 9

    Tim and Tiffany Fox of Dry Ridge would like to announce the birth of their second child. Sage Brook Fox was born at 8:40 a.m. on April 9, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

    She weighed eight pounds and 10 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long. Her maternal grandparents are Tim and Sharon Beach of Dry Ridge.

    Her maternal great grandparents are Opal Beach of Dry Ridge and Jesse and Mendola Colson of Corinth. Her paternal grandparents are Frank and Linda Fox of Crittenden.

    Sage was welcomed home by her big sister, Maci.

  • Soil Conservation District awards scholarships

    The Grant County Soil Conservation District awarded three scholarships to non-traditional students at Northern Kentucky University – Grant Center.

    Students receiving scholarships were: Henrietta Hunt, Melissa Brown and Diana Clifton.

    Hunt,  of Dry Ridge, is a sophomore at NKU-Grant County. She is working to achieve a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.
    Hunt is married to Michael Hunt. The couple has three children: Brooke, Corey and Trevor.

  • ENGAGEMENTS

    Rodney and Bamba Smith of Dry Ridge are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Danielle Marie Smith to Derrick Allan Haley, son of Lin and Debbie Haley of Cythiana.

    The wedding is being planned for 6:30 p.m. on June 23, 2012, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. A reception will follow at the Grant County Fairgrounds.

    The bride is a 2006 graduate of Grant County High School. She is also a 2010 graduate of Transylvania University. She is employed by Sherman Elementary School.

  • Brumley earns doctor of veterinary degree

    Amanda Brumley of Crittenden earned a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine as a member of the class of 2012.

    Brumley earned her bachelor’s degrees in agriculture and biology in 2008 from Eastern Kentucky University and she is a 2003 graduate of Grant County High School. The veterinary program at Auburn is the oldest in the south and the nation’s seventh oldest. More than 6,300 doctors of veterinary medicine have graduated since the first degrees were officially awarded in 1909.

    Other clubs/organizations: I am a member of the Kentucky Charolais Association and the American International Charolais Association. I am a member of Sherman Church of Christ and am involved with the women’s group at the church. I also help on the kitchen committee and in October will be a Master Clothing Volunteer.
