Milestones

The Dry Ridge High School Alumni Banquet was held at the Dry Ridge Christian Church Fellowship Hall on April 28, 2012. This was the 65th meeting of the group, with 39 guests and graduates present.

The class of 1952 was honored and had six members present. The class was represented by Cabin E. Thomas. All graduates were introduced and gave a short history of their days at Dry Ridge High School.

Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council, in collaboration with the Grant County Library will host the free “It’s a Girl’s Life” program beginning at 1 p.m. on July 2 at the Grant County Public Library.

The program is open to all girls in the Grant County area that will be in grades K-5 in the fall of 2012.  “It’s a Girl’s Life” will run from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on July 2, July 9, July 16 and July 23.

David Beach has been named the new executive director of the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation in the cabinet’s Department of Workforce Investment. He has been serving as acting director there since December 2011 and assumed his permanent duties with the cabinet April 16. Dr. Beach previously worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation administrator in the Program Planning and Development Branch of OVR and he is the former Director for Residential Services, Job Placement and Research at the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Training Center.
