  • Ky Transportation Cabinet Equipment Roadeo Competition

    The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6 held its 7th annual Equipment Roadeo Competition on Aug. 9 at the Richwood Flea Market in Florence. With snow and ice season just around the corner, these Olympic style events helps hone the skills of our men and women who help maintain and keep our roads in the best condition possible.

  • New’s celebrates 50 years

    Cecil and Barbara New will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Sept. 1 2012. The News were married at New Friendship Baptist Church with Bro. Carl Chipley officiating. The couple have a son, Jeffrey and two granddaughters, Victoria Kay and Gabriella Dawn.

    Boy Scouts Abe and Ben Thoroughman of Troop 712 were awarded a special award from a leader of the Shooting Range at Camp Friedlander at the Friday night Closing Campfire.

    The descendants of George Lewis Mulligan and Mary William Ritchie will hold their 15th annual reunion at 11 a.m. with lunch served at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds 4-H Building.

  • Walton, boy, July 21

    Josh and Sarah Walton of Dry Ridge would like to announce the birth of their first child. Phoenix Todd Walton was born at 9:16 a.m. on July 21 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.  He weighed six pounds and 10.6 ounces and was 19 inches long.


    His maternal grandparents are Bo and Kathy Smith of Owenton. His maternal great grandparents are Raymond and Gracie McIntosh of Owenton.


    His paternal grandparents are the late Sgt. Todd M. Walton of Morningview. His paternal great grandparents are Larry and Sherry Walton of Morningview.

  • Ceremony salutes efforts to save lives

    The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS) honored 126 law enforcement officers from 123 agencies across the Commonwealth for their efforts to increase the use of seat belts and child restraints. including Post 6 in Dry Ridge.

    LeeAnne Elizabeth Vallandingham Bingham and Kevin Roy Hendry were united in marriage on June 2 at a private, celtic ceremony in Sevierville, Tenn.
    LeeAnne is the daughter of Michael Wood of Burlington and  granddaughter of Charles Vallandingham of Edgewood.
    Kevin is the son of Pete Hendry of Bright, Ind.
    The couple are residing in Muncy, Pa.

    What motivated you to live a healthier lifestyle? Seeing my  mom and others having health issues—high blood pressure, asthma, etc.--and knowing living healthy would off-set a lot of these. Also, as I got older, knowing if I kept up the way I was going, I would not live to 100 like I plan to do.
