Boy Scout Troop 712 and Cub Scout Pack 318 participated in Scout Sunday at Williamstown Christian Church on Feb 6. All scouts were encouraged to wear their scout uniform to their own church and/or participate in their own church’s Scout Sunday program.
The Boy Scouts of America annually celebrates its founding on Feb. 8, 1910, based on the program started by Lord Baden Powell in England on Aug. 1, 1907. Scout Sunday was added to the Scout celebration in the middle 1940s. Scout Sunday is always the Sunday preceding Feb. 8, unless the date actually falls on Sunday.
I would like to nominate my son-in-law as my special valentine. Estell Hatter is a husband and father and housekeeper. He is disabled because of epilsepsy.
His wife, Melissa, brings in their only income so he babysits his three daughters who are in school, plus a 4-year-old son and a 1 ½-year-old little boy. Estell also looks after his 19-year-old son who is slightly mentally challenged.

I have a handful of phalaenopsis about the house, and three of them have just begun to shoot up a bloom spike that, once in bloom (probably still about a month away), will bloom for months, if I keep them out of direct sunlight. One plant is like 10 fresh cut bouquets, and they are so delicately lovely you just can’t beat them as a nice Valentine gesture.
The subject of love or even strong like may make some first grade students squirm or even stick out their tongue, but if you want to know an honest answer to a simple question, then ask a child. With Valentine’s Day looming, here are the responses the News staff received from first grade students in Grant County and Williamstown schools.
