Anna Mary Kells Gordon likes most everything about her life—her entire 100 years.
“Everybody always called me Anna Mary, by both names,” she said. “And I like my name.”
“I’ve been in Grant County all my life,” Gordon said. “Born, raised and raised my family on Highway 36.”
She was born March 19, 1911, the daughter of Bennie and Frannie Kells. She was one of three girls and three boys.
Chris Lawrence had a secret that the reserved, humble man didn’t share with many outside his close friends and family.
Lawrence, a native of Williamstown and graduate of Williamstown High School, lived for 10 years with ulcerative colitis, a chronic disease that causes inflammation and sores in the colon (large intestine) and rectum.
The American Cancer Society is offering free makeup to female cancer patients at their Look Good Feel Better Session on April 18 at St. Elizabeth Grant County.
Patients will learn how to enhance their appearance utilizing make up techniques. The session starts at 6 p.m. and is limited to the first 12 callers. Call the American Cancer Society to register at 859-647-2226.

The St. Elizabeth Healthcare mobile mammography van will visit several locations throughout Northern Kentucky in March. Following the American Cancer Society’s guidelines for the early detection of breast cancer can improve the chances that the disease can be diagnosed at an early stage and can be treated successfully. Women age 40 and over should have a screening mammogram every year. The van will be at the following locations:
• March 19 – from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walton Pharmacy, 305 Mary Grubbs Highway in Walton

The annual Lenton Fish Fry has returned to St. William Catholic Church and continues through April 15.
The meal, including battered cod, three sides, cornbread, dessert and a drink will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. at 6 Church Street, off Waterworks Road. The cost is $7.50 per meal.
