Three Grant County teens were chosen for the Governor’s Scholars Program. Gail Kollhoff of Corinth, Lori Brown and Tracy Wright, both of Williamstown, will take part in the five week program that joins 700 high school juniors from 116 of Kentucky’s 120 counties.

Brett Benton, 37, had recently resigned as a sergeant with the Kenton County Police Department to go to work for a private defense contractor in Afghanistan.
He was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in the Alingar District, Laghman Province.
Benton, originally from Richmond, Ky. and his wife, Bethany moved to Dry Ridge to be between her family in Ohio and his in Madison County nine years ago.
