Six students from Grant County were named to the Morehead State University dean’s list for the 1998 spring semester. The dean’s list includes Molly J. Caldwell of Dry Ridge, Randolph P. Lillard of Union, Phillip Ponder of Crittenden, Gena Kay True of Crittenden and Deeana R. Webb of Williamstown.
Erika Landrum, 6, was one of 12 students from Kenton County chosen for the “Key To The Future” at a ceremony held at Holmes High School. Covington Mayor Denny Bowman presented her with a key to the city. She is the daughter of Jeff and Vickie Landrum. Her paternal grandmother is Faye Landrum Smith of Crittenden.

I can hardly wait for this year’s first harvest of summer squash and it should be any day now. There is fruit set and you know how quickly squash can mature. Last year’s crop was not so robust because of the record heat so I am optimistically counting on a bumper squash crop this year- the weather is certainly on our side.
