The restored Sherman Tavern is on track to becoming a museum, but to 97-year-old Christine Gouge Blackburn and her sister, 94-year-old Mary Gouge Worthington, it was called home.
Daniel Goderwis, a freshman at Williamstown High School, is a typical teenager who loves the outdoors, basketball, soccer and karate, but unlike most teens, Daniel is an artist, Civil War historian and member of the Green River Rifles, 3rd Kentucky Infantry Regiment re-enactment unit.
When Danny and Sharon Goderwis took their son to watch a Civil War re-enactment in Cincinnati, they had no idea of the impact it would have on him.
• 7 tablespoon olive oil
• 7 teaspoon minced garlic
• ¼ cup onion, finely chopped
• 2 (75.8 ounce) cans of great northern beans, rinsed and drained
• 7 (74.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano
• 7 (74 ounce) can low-sodium vegetable or chicken broth
• 4 cups kale, torn into small pieces
• 7 tablespoon lemon juice
• ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Dry Ridge City Council proclaimed Oct. 8-14 as Kentucky Homemaker Extension Week during their Oct. 16 meeting.
Member Marleen McComas said they’ve been losing members each year due and recruiting has been difficult.
“We do a lot of things besides go to meetings,” said member Nelma Jean Huff.
Downtown Williamstown was filled with people Oct. 5 as The Gallery Coffee Shop sponsored a live standup comedy fundraiser for the Free Lunch Kitchen.
During the day, prior to the show, The Gallery hosted an art exhibit that featured the art of local past and present artists.
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Grease 1 ½ quart baking dish.
3. Mix corn, flour, sugar and salt together in a large bowl.
4. Combine well-beaten eggs, melted margarine and milk.
5. Pour into corn mixture and stir to mix.
6. Pour into prepared baking dish.
