Facing Simon Kenton, the two-time defending region champions, the Grant County girls’ basketball team started slow.

The Lady Braves trailed 14-4 after the first quarter and it proved to be a deficit that they could not overcome as they came away with a 53-42 loss.

“Simon Kenton is a good basketball team and they have the mental advantage of everyone in the district because they feel like they should win every game,” coach Darrell Guffey said. “But I think that gap is closing. We just came out a little flat.”
