School family will miss colleague

By The Staff

With the first full week of school complete, we’d like to take a few moments to reflect and say “thank you” to several people.  First of all, we would like to thank the following for the support they have shown the Family Resource Youth Service Center (FRYSC) Program: Superintendent Sally Skinner, Instructional Assistant Misty Middleton, middle/high school, Principal Dave Johnstone, Elementary Principal David Poer, the members of the Williamstown Board of Education, the parent and teacher members of both school’s SBDM Councils, our teachers, staff members and community partners.

As most of you know, back to school time is a busy time in the FRYSC office with back to school events. This year we are happy to report that 98 percent of our students came to our events!  We certainly appreciate the students and their parents taking the time out of their busy schedules to attend. These events would also not be possible without the volunteers from our community who help in many aspects. We are grateful for your help as well.

The week of our back to school events also brought some sad moments for the Williamstown family. We were deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague, Kim Sanders. Kim was a special lady who cared so much for the students she worked with and her co-workers. She was a blessing to us all here, and she will be missed terribly by the students and staff. As a tribute to Kim, we were able to raise $200 to benefit the Cancer Care Center at St. Elizabeth Grant County through sales of KONA  Ice at two of our events. That money will be donated in Kim’s name and will help those in our community who receive treatments at our local center.

The week also brought another loss in the resignation of board member, Liz Wagoner.  Liz has been a huge supporter of our school district and of the FRYSC program. We appreciate all the long hours that Liz has dedicated to making our school district and program the best it can be for our students and their families.

We love having the students back in the building, and we certainly look forward to the rest of the school year with all the excitement it will bring!
