Davis has interests of constituents at heart

By The Staff

This is in response to a letter written by John Waltz. Congressman Geoff Davis has been very helpful to myself and all of the soldiers that I have referred to him since our deployment to Afghanistan in 2007-08. He continues to be a strong asset to our unit and, he has also helped other units in this area. Congressman Davis came to my unit’s deployment ceremony and he was at our welcome home ceremony.

While we were in Afghanistan, Congressman Davis kept contact with our chain of command to keep track of how we were doing and if there was anything he could do for us. When we laid to rest one of our soldiers, who was killed in action, he was supportive of that soldier’s family and of the unit as a whole.

After I was wounded, Congressman Davis met with me. He wanted me to give him a no B.S. assessment of the quality of our training prior to deployment and our mission overseas.

He wanted this to come from a Noncommissioned Officer, because he was concerned about the training and readiness of soldiers sent overseas, and if there was anything he could do to improve on it. I know that Congressman Davis sits on a Defense Committee and has visited other units and spoken to many troops.

He is a veteran who served as an enlisted man and as an officer in the U.S. Army and shares those bonds as a soldier. I have referred a few of my soldiers to him when they have had issues with the Veterans Administration, all with satisfactory results.

I do believe there are senators and representatives who don’t work for the people they represent, but not this one. I believe Congressman Davis has the best interest of his constituents, the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the United States of America in mind while serving in Washington D.C.
