Williamstown water plant moves forward

The City of Williamstown is moving forward on construction of a new $16.6 million water plant.

The city’s first step was to purchase 55 acres of land on Waterworks Road for $355,000.

This land is at the top of the hill from the city’s water storage tank and adjacent to property the city already owns.

“It was the best location we could have had,” said Williamstown Mayor Rick Skinner.

The city’s current water plant was built in 1964 and has a capacity of producing 2.5 million gallons per day.
