Williamstown Schools hosts 5K run/walk fundraiser

Williamstown Independent Schools will be hosting an inaugural 5K run/walk May 21 to raise money for health and physical education equipment.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. with participants asked to check in at 8 a.m. at the school.

Registration costs $20 until May 20 and is $25 the day of the race.

All participants who pre-register will receive a race day T-shirt.

Anyone who pre-registers by May 4 will only pay $15.

There is a $3 discount for Williamstown students.

Runners and walkers of all ages and ability are welcome to join the fundraiser.

Racers will be broken down into age groups for awards.

Proceeds will be used to purchase up-to-date equipment such as soccer goals, climbing walls and pedometers to help keep Williamstown in the 21st century physically.

The course for the 5K begins at the front of the high school and goes through downtown Williamstown and back on Helton Road with the finish line placed at the school.

Registration forms can be picked up and dropped off, along with the fee, at the Williamstown High School Family Resource and Youth Service Center.
