A 36-year-old Williamstown man was sentenced Jan. 28 to 30 months in prison for making counterfeit money on his home computer.
As part of a plea agreement, Thomas Onan admitted to altering $5 bills by washing them in bleach and reproducing an image of a $100 bill onto the original bill using a computer.
Onan then printed the counterfeit currency and passed it at several stores, including Wal-Mart, Target and McDonalds.
From March 2008 to November 2008, authorities believe Onan manufactured and passed about $8,000 in counterfeit $100 bills.
