Name of competition: Bourbon County Invitational
Location and date: Bourbon County High School in Paris.
Ranking and any awards: There were two bands competing in Class A; Nicholas County and Williamstown. Williamstown received Best Music, Best Visual, Best Effect, and 1st place Band in Class A. In prelims, the WHS Band of Spirit was 4th overall out of 15 bands (regardless of class) with a score of 54.85. In the finals, the WHS Band of Spirit was third overall out of 15 bands with a score of 58.1. Larue County was the Reserve Grand Champion with a score of 60. Lafayette was the Grand Champion with a score of 65.05.
Names and number of bands participating: two Class A; two Class AA; five Class AAA, four 4A Class and three 5A Class.
Score: Final performances score was 58.1.
How do you feel about the performance?: “It was a great first weekend,” said director Chris Hedges. “So proud of the students, parents, and the Band of Spirit Nation!”
What areas need to be improved and how do you feel the band is doing at this point in the season?: ‘We need to finish getting the rest of the show on the field,” Hedges said. “Then we can focus on cleaning and getting our performance level to a higher level.”
Date, location and name of next competition: Sept.14 at Shelby County High School. The band’s preliminary march is at 1 p.m.
