WHS FFA Hosts National Officer

The Williamstown Future Farmers of America chapter held its annual chapter banquet on May 10, in the high school cafeteria. Steve Brown, the national FFA advisor for two years, was the featured guest. Williamstown is the only chapter in the nation to have the honor of hosting this well-respected leader. WHS also hosted Brandon Davis, the Kentucky state advisor, along with over 150 other community members and parents in attendance.
During the banquet,  the Chapter FFA Degree was awarded to Jacob Jump and Morgan Cloe. These members worked hard to achieve this goal and have shown their leadership skills.


The next ceremony of the night was chapter officer installations. The new officer lineup for 2013-2014 is: President- Jacob Jump, Vice President-Morgan Cloe, Secretary- Morgan Shoemaker, Treasurer- Jordan Howard, Reporter- Mackenzie Dunaway, public relations committee chairmen- Drew Lawrence, committee secretary- Brittany Covey. The chapter appreciates Sidney Jump and Sammie Souder, two outgoing officers for their contribution to the chapter.
Other award winners were recognized including: Sidney Jump- extemporaneous speaking winning region and advancing to state;

Sammie Souder- greenhouse speaking; Morgan Cloe- beef cattle speaking and beef entrepreneurship proficiency winner; Ashley Kinman- floral design speaking, placing second at region advancing to state; Austin Maines- goat speaking; Carly Wagoner- dairy cattle speaking; Jordan Howard- fruit and vegetable, speaking placing second at region and advancing to state; Hunter Gatewood- creed speaking and Emma Napier- job interview regional winner advancing to state.

This year, the chapter also had a parliamentary procedure team for the first time.  The following team members placed third at region- Hunter Gatewood, Alex Prokopchak, Jordan Howard, Ashley Kinman, Ashley Williams, Morgan Potter, Morgan Shoemaker, Kayla Harrell, Gage Pinkston and Sidney Jump. The last event of the night was the senior recognition. The chapter will lose 13 seniors to graduation. As they hung their jackets there were tears shed and hugs were shared. This year’s seniors were: Carly Wagner, Emma Napier, Katie Messer, Ashley Kinman, Ashlee Simpson, Alex Prokopchak, Olivia Chandler, Gage Robertson, Gage Pinkston, Ashley Williams, Hunter Gatewood, Emily Garrison and Morgan Potter.
