WES student pen pals help bring Seattle couple together

A romance that sparked with the help of some Williamstown Elementary pen pals has led to the couple getting engaged.
When WES third grade teacher Michelle Whaley and RTI coordinator Carleen Ficker were looking for a group of soldiers to write to so they enlisted the help of Ficker’s daughter, Kelly.
The 27-year-old Butler, Kentucky native who lives in Seattle, Washington recalled meeting Captain John Benson, 27, at a cancer fundraiser.
