Logan Webster of Williamstown, a senior at Owen County High School, has received an invitation to represent Kentucky on the Western Conference Football team competing in Australia in the summer of 2014. He is excited for the opportunity to represent his family, school, community, state and country in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Webster will be joined by fellow football teammate, Logan Lowe.
He has been playing football since the first grade. He finished his football career on a high note by being named to the 2013 All District team.
The Down Under Bowl in football is among several competitions of its kind being held in numerous sports, including basketball, wrestling, cross country, track and field, and volleyball.
The football competition has been held annually since 1989 as a means of providing exposure for the sport in Australia while at the same time using the common language of sports to bridge the continents, according to the website of International Sports Specialists Inc., organizer of the Down Under Sports competitions.
In order to accomplish this once-in-a-lifetime experience, Webster is seeking donations from the community to assist with this event. Donations can be dropped off at A-Plus Storage and U-haul located behind the Dana Corporation or go directly to www.downundersports.com or gofundme.com.
Webster is the son of Kim Webster Varner of Williamstown and the grandson of Billy and Brenda Webster of Williamstown.
He is currently a senior at Owen County High School.
