I have allowed God back into my life and I couldn’t be any happier.
With giving my life to God, I have developed a closer relationship to my fiancé, Jessica Purnell and Jesus Christ.
Jessica and I went to Williamstown Christian Church, March 16, for the movie, “Courageous”, a film about five men making a resolution to be better fathers in their home, teaching the Word of God to their families.
It is an inspirational film that tests you even if you are not a father, if you are living what God has planned for you.
The evening was wonderful, getting to sit in with the community to watch this film. I don’t live here, so usually I just go home after work, but having seen this film once before, I felt it would be a great time to spend with Williamstown Christian Church.
Pastor Gary Swick and youth minister Micah Montecalvo were welcoming, happy to see us spend an evening with them. The congregation as a whole was welcoming and I enjoyed talking to them.
The more important message is the film and there is a resolution that the men sign to be held accountable to be living a Christian life in their home and their church.
The resolution states, “I DO solemnly resolve before God to take full responsibility for myself, my wife and my children. I WILL love them, protect them, serve them, and teach them the Word of God as the spiritual leader of my home. I WILL be faithful to my wife, to love and honor her, and be willing to lay down my life for her as Jesus Christ did for me. I WILL bless my children and teach them to love God with all of their hearts, all of their minds, and all of their strength. I WILL train them to honor authority and live responsibly. I WILL confront evil, pursue justice, and love mercy. I WILL pray for others and treat them with kindness, respect and compassion. I WILL work diligently to provide for the needs of my family. I WILL forgive those who have wronged me and reconcile with those who I have wronged. I WILL learn from my mistakes, repent of my sins, and walk with integrity as a man answerable to God. I WILL seek to honor God, be faithful to His church, obey His Word, and do his will. I WILL courageously work with the strength God provides to fulfill this resolution for the rest of my life and for His glory.
I am not married yet and don’t have children, but I have told Jessica, I want to sign this resolution when we have a family, I want to buy this resolution and sign it. I feel I need to be a role model for Jessica and our future family.
I highly recommend to all fathers, watch this film and see what God is telling you to do. I challenge you to look at this resolution and see if God wants you to take it up in your home.
