A year removed from finishing second in both the youth baseball machine league regular season and tournament, the Cubs and coach Jamie Fryman got vindication on June 11, winning the league regular and tournament championships on their way to a 19-1 season.
"The team had their moments this year. There were eight players on the team last season, and we all wanted to win the championship," Fryman said.
The Cubs defeated the Cardinals 6-5 in their first game of the tournament. Trailing 5-2, Carrigan Ruber got a hit to start the game-winning rally for the Cubs.
