U.S. 25 Yard Sale is growing

-A A +A

Spring has finally sprung and before you know it, the U.S. 25 Yard Sale will be here.  Grant County had a wonderful turn-out last year and this year will be even better. This year’s date is June 6, June 7 and June 8 and now is the time to start getting ready.  We have established the first Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in June every year for the yard sale.

I had seven people who told me they made more than $1,000 from their yard sale last year. One man called me from Georgetown. He had cancer and had come into a little bit of money. He took that money and bought clothing from a store that had been in an estate.  He made over $5,000.  He tracked me down just to say, “Thank you.”

The U.S. 25 Yard Sale is growing.  I have had a gentleman in Berea who has contacted me.  He is out of work at the moment and has volunteered to help me promote it from Lexington to the Kentucky border and on into Tennessee. He has been helping me for several months now. He has contacted tourist boards, chambers of commerce, radio stations, newspapers and any other outlet he can think of.  Currently he has contacted people all the way to LaFollette, Tenn..  He has asked all of them to do email blasts to spread the word.  He calls me every few days with updates.

I know many of you are out of work. It will be an opportunity for you to make some extra money, so start getting your things ready now.  If you do not live on U.S. 25, call a friend who does, a church or a school. There are spaces everywhere and most cities are waiving the need for a yard sale permit this weekend.  Main Street in Williamstown will have spaces available this year. You may call the city office for information.

Why not plan a street yard sale?  You could put the sign at the end of your street with an arrow and the words, ‘Street Yard Sale’, and people will come down your street.  You just need to tell them.

I would like to remind all churches to make plans to allow your mission team, your youth group, or any other group within your church to make money renting spaces.  It is also a wonderful money maker for any school group, such as band boosters, athletic boosters, and cheerleaders, etc.

If you have a space for rent or you are looking for a space to rent, you should contact the City of Williamstown at 859-824-6351.  They will put your information on their web site at www.wtownky.org. We also have a facebook page, U.S. 25 Yard Sale and rental information will be posted on there as well.   Come on y’all…..let’s have the best yard sale ever this year.
