The race to replace U.S. Congressman Geoff Davis, who will not run for re-election, is now even more crowded.
Two more Republican candidates filed on the Feb. 17 filing deadline for the 24-county 4th district seat, which includes Grant County.
Attorney Marc Carey of Sparta and building contractor Walter Christian Schumm of Crestwood will join five other Republicans for the May primary.
State Rep. Alecia Webb-Edgington, R-Ft. Wright, Boone County Judge-Executive Gary Moore, Lewis County Judge-Executive Thomas Massie of Garrison, business consultant Tom Wurtz of Ft. Mitchell and math teacher Brian D. Oerther of LaGrange had previously filed.
On the Democratic side, Williamstown attorney William R. “Bill” Adkins will go head-to-head with Greg Frank of Corinth in the Democratic primary for the fourth congressional district seat.
Although the filing deadline for candidates has passed, residents still have time to register to vote in the May 22 primary and the Nov. 6 general elections.
The last day to register at the Grant County Clerk’s Office to vote in the primary is April 23.
The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election, which will also include the presidential race, is Oct. 9.
