June 25, 1998

Kasi Lynette Bruce, the daughter of Barbara Workman Bruce of Dry Ridge, received a bachelor of science degree in finance/international business management during Georgetown College’s commencement exercises. Bruce received the International Business Award.

Steven Scott Bowen, a sophomore in the electrical department at Northern Kentucky University, was recently awarded a Greaves scholarship for the 1998-99 school year. Bowen, with his parents Steve Bowen and Terreca and Lowell Workman, attended the Greaves scholar’s dinner at the university.

June 30, 1988

Fifth grade students at Corinth Elementary School received letters recently as far away as Alaska and Hawaii. The letters were replies from students the children wrote to as part of a Social Studies and U.S. History class taught by Kathy Tingle. Tingle said the class got letters from a one-room school in Florida.

Two Grant Countians were named to the Dean’s List at Western Kentucky University for the spring semester of 1988. Michelle Willoby of Dry Ridge obtained a grade point average of 3.4 and Jeffrey Long of Williamstown was named a President’s Scholar with a grade point average of 3.8 out of 4.0.

David Crockett, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Crockett of Williamstown, is attending classes this summer at the University of Kentucky. This program has been established in order to provide an opportunity for high school students who qualify after completing their junior year in high school to obtain six hours of college credit.
