Police are warning businesses that the only thing fishy isn’t just on the menu. Someone has been passing counterfeit $20 bills at the Dry Ridge Outlet Mall. Police say those who handle cash should pay attention to the look and feel of bills coming into the store. Police also say the purchase of a pen that can detect fake bills is a wise investment.
Trooper Jan Wuchner with the Kentucky State Police visited Crittenden Headstart as part of an ongoing health education curriculum. The children are learning the importance of building a healthy body. They are learning the harmful effects of alcohol and drugs on their bodies and how to say “no” to drugs and alcohol products.

The federal commodities will be distributed at the fire stations in Corinth, Crittenden, Dry Ridge and Williamstown on Feb. 15. Each eligible household will receive five pounds of flour. Families of one to five members will receive five pounds of cheese, six to 10 member families receive 10 pounds. The program is administered by the judge-executive.
Gail Hubbard has been named to the dean’s list for the 1985 fall semester at Midway College. She was co-captain of the college volleyball team, carried 18 hours of college studies and worked five hours a week as a college switchboard operator. She has interest in art and horticulture and is the daughter of Joel and Eleanor Hubbard of Dry Ridge.

Feb. 17 and 18 are grand opening days at Powers Home and Auto Supply. The firm moved into their new location and are celebrating with many bargains. Powers has selected some nice prizes for a drawing for grownups and suitable prizes for children in a separate drawing. Sunbeam appliances, Yard Man and Rotary lawn mowers and fishing tackle representatives will give demonstrations.
Ben Hur, a spectacular movie, is playing a limited engagement at the Madison Theatre in Covington. There are no reserved seats for this show. Ben Hur was acclaimed best picture of the year and was the winner of 11 academy awards. It is filmed in technicolor with stereophonic sound. The chariot race and great sea battle are breathtaking.
