December 25, 1997
Navy Lt. Marcus C. Camacho, a 1988 graduate of Grant County High School in Dry Ridge is scheduled to spend the holidays forward deployed to Atsugi, Japan with carrier Early Warning Squadron 115. He joined the Navy in May 1988. Camacho is a 1992 graduate of the U.S. Navel Academy in Annapolis, Md. with a bachelors degree.

2 Lt. Mark Wisher of the U.S. Air Force graduated from the Euro-Nato-Joint Jet Pilot Training program at Shepphard AFB, Texas. Wisher has been assigned a F-16 Fighter Falcon. He will begin introduction to Fighter Fundamentals at Columbus AFB, Ohio. Wisher graduated from St. Henry High School in Erlanger.

 A “restaurant row” seems to be forming in Dry Ridge as more restaurant franchises plans to locate to the area. Arby’s, a fast food restaurant plans to open on Blackburn Drive The Dry Ridge City Council scheduled a Board of Adjustments meeting on Jan. 4 to discuss giving Arby’s a variance.

Pvt. 1st Class David M. Phillippi, son of Jack E. and Sarepta of Williamstown has received the parachutist badge upon completion of a three-week airborne course at the U.S. Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia. He is a 1984 graduate of Grant County High School in Dry Ridge.

December 28, 1962
Grant County will use automatic voting machines in the next election in May 1963. The fiscal court session adopted a resolution providing for the acquisition of voting machines for the county. In part the resolution states, “It is deemed essential to eliminate the antiquated of which elections are now being conducted in Grant County.”

Jim Ruark, Grant County Conservation officer, announced that Kincaid Lake at Falmouth will be open to the public for fishing Jan. 1, 1963. In order to conserve and preserve the fish population for the maximum benefit for all, creel limits and size limits have been established.
