Marine Cpl. Kyle C. Jones, son of Larry W. Jones of Corinth, recently reported for duty with the 7th Communication Battalion, 3rd Reconnaissance and Intelligence Group in Okinawa, Japan. People like Jones are making a difference as they work to improve their knowledge as part of the military.
The Grant County Football Boosters changed the bingo program in September from a $500 progressive coverall to a $1,000 progressive coverall. The first winner was Janice Bowen of Dry Ridge. The Grant County Football Boosters hold their bingo night at the Dalton Plaza in Crittenden.

The Grant County High School “Tribe of Pride” marching band has a lot to be proud of. The band competed in Somerset and took home first place trophies in four categories: brass, woodwind, percussion and best overall performance. The band is under the direction of Ron Livingood.

The Corinth City Commission discussed the the construction of a retaining wall and sidewalk in town, according to Robert L. Goss, mayor of Corinth. Goss said the project is being funded by the state department of transportation and costs about $38,000. He estimated the work should be finished in about two weeks.

A group of sportsmen are in Wisconsin on a hunting-fishing outing. In the group are Lester Mullins, Dr. F. R. Scroggin, Carl Sheriff and B.L. Ballard from Grant County and Chester Adams from Henry County and Johnny Murphy of Covington.

Registration fees at all state colleges and the University of Kentucky were raised $10 per semester, by the Council of Public Higher Education. The new fee schedule, effective Sept. 1 1963, raised basic registration fees to $75 a semester in all schools except UK where it will be $81.75.
